I’m writing this post to start keeping track of compatibility tests and issues related to the uploader-plus plugin. By compatibility I mean two things.
First, compatibility with different versions. There are at least three major Alfresco versions (4.0.x, 4.2.x and 5.0.x) that people use and four browsers types (IE, Chrome, FF, Safari), not to mention Internet Explorer’s various versions. Also Alfresco’s uploader has three “flavours”: flash, plain HTML, HTML5. The combinations are endless. This page will provide a high-level summary of what works and what doesn’t. If you find a problem with a specific version/environment, please open an issue on GitHub.
Second, compatibility with other plugins and with Alfresco customisations. This means testing uploader-plus in real projects. These tests are even more open-ended but I think plugins should be aware of problems that arise down the line, during integration, and should try to fix issues where possible.
It is with this second type of compatibility that I’d like to start by testing uploader-plus with the Alfresco-listmanager plugin.
A test with the Alfresco-listmanager plugin
Note on Jan 16, 2015: When I originally wrote this section, the only plugin I tested was Alfresco-listmanager. Since then, I’ve published a review of five Alfresco picklist plugins and moved the discussion on Alfresco-listmanager there.
Tests with different versions of Alfresco
4.0.e: Not compatible. My scripts import some FreeMarker templates that were not available in that version.
4.2.a: Not compatible. Some problems with client-side components, see issue #60
4.2.b: Not tested
4.2.c: Not tested
4.2.d: Tested. No problems found.
4.2.e: Not tested but very likely to work without problems.
4.2.f: Tested. This was my reference version during implementation, so no problems here.
4.2 Enterprise Editions: Not tested
5.0.a: Tested. No problems found.
5.0.b: Tested. No problems found.
5.0.c: Tested. No problems found.
Tests with different browsers
Chrome: Tested, no issues.
Firefox: Tested, no issues.
Safari: Tested, no issues.
As to Internet Explorer, I use modern.IE for my tests, so the reference versions are the following:
IE8 on Win XP: Tested, no issues.
IE9: Not tested but should work.
IE10 on Win 8: Tested, no issues.
IE11 on Win 8.1: Tested, not working because unable to login to Alfresco CE.
I’ll keep this page updated as old problems are resolved or new ones are found. If you find a problem, please open an issue on GitHub.
